BLE-Based Access Control System for Wide Areas / Long Range

Overview

BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology is revolutionizing long-range access control for wide areas, offering numerous advantages over traditional RFID solutions. BLE-based systems enable adjustable range configurations, extending up to 900 ft (300 meters) indoors and up to 5,000 ft (1,500 meters) outdoors, making them ideal for large or wide-area facilities. BLE technology ensures long battery life up to 10 years making it a cost-effective solution for extensive facilities with minimal maintenance requirements.

A BLE-based long-range access control system consists of one or multiple gateways and a network of beacons. Gateways should be strategically positioned at main entry points, security gates, or facility perimeters. Beacons, which are typically placed near access points such as doors, gates, or barriers, communicate with gateways to control access over a wide range. Additionally, the flexibility of power sources PoE, battery, solar power, or standard outlets for gateways, and battery or solar power for beacons provides versatile installation options in various industrial or commercial settings.

Features

  • Extended Adjustable Range: 900 ft (300 meters) indoors, 5,000 ft (1,500 meters) outdoors.
  • Low Maintenance: Beacons offer up to 10 years of battery life, minimizing replacement costs.
  • Flexible Power Options: Gateways powered by PoE, battery, solar power, or conventional outlets; beacons powered by battery or solar power.
  • Rugged Design: IP67-rated beacons are durable and resistant to outdoor conditions, making them suitable for challenging environments.
  • Scalable and Modular: Supports multiple BLE gateways and beacons for large-scale or geographically dispersed access control.
