Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) consumes much less power than the regular Bluetooth technology and operates in the same 2.4 GHz ISM frequency bands. This feature of low energy consumption makes BLE particularly attractive to machine-to-machine (M2M) and internet of things (IoT) applications. BLE also offers some additional features such as broadcast and mesh, in addition to point-to-point communication. BLE is also called Bluetooth Low Energy and is incorporated in Bluetooth 4.0 and newer versions.
GAO RFID offers complete sets of BLE indoor and outdoor gateways, and a wide selection of beacons suitable for various applications such as people tracking asset tracking, or applications requiring drones. The BLE gateways have ethernet, WI-FI, and cellular connections so that they can be connected with local, remote, or cloud servers. GAO’s beacons require ultra-low consumption of batteries. Along with the BLE gateways and beacons, GAO offers software running on the server and APPs on mobile phones for different applications such as healthcare, construction, automotive, and manufacturing
Customers can opt to purchase BLE gateways, beacons, or a complete BLE system, or can even request us to custom design our gateways, beacons, software, or Android or iOS APPs to fit your particular needs. Please contact our specialist for more information.
Basically, there are two kinds of BLE configurations. One configuration is utilization of beacons with gateways, where the gateways are typically fixed at certain locations and beacons are on a person or an object. It is used for tracking of people and assets and for access and parking control. Another configuration is utilization of beacons and smartphones, where the beacons are typically fixed at certain locations and smartphones are carried by people. It is used for people positioning, proximity or navigation.

BLE beacons and gateways have a variety of potential applications in the retail trade industry. Here are a few examples: GAO offers a suite of BLE systems for the retail trade industry:
• Inventory tracking: BLE beacons can be attached to products such as electronics, apparel, or shelves to track inventory levels in real-time. Beacons transmit data to a gateway, which can be used to monitor stock levels and trigger restocking orders as needed.
• Customer tracking: BLE beacons can be used to track customer behavior within the store. Gateways can be placed at key locations such as entry points, product displays, and checkout counters, to track customer movement and behavior. This data can be used to optimize store layouts and improve customer engagement.
• Access control: BLE solutions can be used to control access to sensitive areas within a retail store, such as stockrooms or cash registers. Beacons can be assigned to specific employees and access can be granted or denied based on the proximity of the beacon to a BLE gateway.
• Parking control: BLE gateways can be placed at parking gates to monitor occupancy, entry, and exit vehicles, and ensure convenient parking for customers.
• Environmental Monitoring: BLE temperature, humidity, and vibration sensors tags are used to monitor devices to track and analyze environmental conditions within a retail store. For example, retailers can monitor temperature and humidity levels in their refrigerators and freezers to ensure optimal storage conditions for perishable goods, leading to better-quality products.
• In-store Navigation: BLE beacons can be used to help shoppers navigate the store and find specific products. Beacons can transmit location data to the shopper's smartphone or tablet, providing them with real-time directions of the product they're looking for.
