Technology

Semi-passive RFID readers can read both semi-passive and passive RFID tags. Semi-passive RFID readers are available in various frequency 125 KHz, 2.45 GHz, 433 MHz and 860-960 MHz these readers can be used according to their users’ needs and specification.

Semi –passive readers has various communication interfaces such as class 2 Bluetooth, i-BUS (RS422), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Ethernet and USB 2.0. It has LED indicators to show status such as Run, Loop, Bus, and Error. Some of the readers have in-built antennas while some have SMA connectors for external antennas which increase the reading distance. Localization rate of these readers is up to 400 sensors per read zone and up to 500 sensors per read zone in multiple sensor handling. Low frequency reader has a 16-bit programmable Loop ID. Ultra-high frequency reader has Bi-directional communication mode which is used for reading log, blink LED, and write/read data. Some of the semi passive readers have windows mobile 5.0 operating system which has a 64MB RAM and also consist of 128 MB Rom and has 32 bit fixed ID. This reader seamlessly integrates into advanced information systems when incorporated into the CF card slot of a laptop.  Drivers for several different operating systems, including Windows CE/9x/NT/2000/XP and Windows 7 are also included. UHF frequency readers have the ability to collect the data from beacon sensors. Data rate of 433 MHz is up to 28 Kbits/s. Semi- passive RFID readers have the supply voltage of 10-30 VDC while the power consumption is max 20 w.

Semi-passive RFID reader is compatible to ILR® i-Q and i-B Tags, 137005 RTLS series sensors, ISO 18000-7 Transponders, 137004, 137005,137006 series of sensors and are certified as EN 300 220 (EC); FCC Part 15 (US) , CE (EN 300 220-1, -3; EN 300 328, EN 301 489-1, -3; EN 60950), EN 60950, UL NI File E337179, FCC Part 15 (US); Industry Canada, CE (EN 300 220-1, -3; EN 300 328, EN 301 489-1, -3; EN 60950)

Semi-passive readers has the enclosure rating of IP66,IP54 ,IP 40, IP 64. Protected by its IP66 enclosure, they work well even in difficult environments. IP64 housing which allows outstanding performance even in the most challenging environments. IP64 sealing rating as well as integrated internal antennas for flexibility to use in nearly any environment.

Applications

The semi passive RFID readers are used in RFID system configurations where costly items over great distances of up to 100 feet away can be tracked. The short range RFID readers can be used to control parking access to buildings and restricted areas and have the ability to control inductive field limits and vehicle lane discrimination and direction recognition can be realized. Medium range readers are often used in low cost asset tracking applications that require a longer read range. Popular applications include vehicle or personnel tracking, as well as tracing documents. It can be used for automatic gathering of information and for industrial housing.
