BLE-Based People Tracking System for Event Attendee Activity

Overview

Our BLE-Based People Tracking System is designed to provide efficient, real-time monitoring of attendee activity during events. BLE technology offers a greater range, better power efficiency, and flexibility compared to traditional RFID systems, making it ideal for tracking attendees at large events, conventions, and exhibitions. By integrating BLE gateways and beacons, event organizers can monitor attendee movement, attendance, and flow in a reliable and cost-effective manner.

Features

  • Adjustable Range: BLE technology offers a customizable range up to 900 ft (300 meters) indoors and up to 5,000 ft (1,500 meters) outdoors ensuring coverage across any event layout.
  • Extended Battery Life: BLE beacons last up to 10 years, ensuring long-term, uninterrupted attendee tracking with minimal maintenance.
  • Flexible Power Options: BLE gateways can be powered by PoE, battery, solar power, or standard power outlets, while the beacons can be powered by battery or solar.
  • Durable Design: The beacons are IP67-rated, making them weatherproof and suited for outdoor or rugged event environments.
  • Scalable System: One or more BLE gateways can work with multiple beacons, offering a scalable solution that fits both small and large events.

Technical Specifications

  • System Range: Adjustable up to 900 ft (300 meters) indoors, and 5,000 ft (1,500 meters) outdoors.
  • Battery Life: Beacons last up to 10 years.
  • Power Sources for Gateways: PoE, battery, solar power, or standard power outlets.
  • Power Sources for Beacons: Battery or solar power.
  • Durability: IP67-rated beacons for outdoor and rugged environments.

Applications

  • Attendee Flow Monitoring: BLE gateways placed at key entry points, session rooms, and exits enable real-time tracking of how attendees navigate the event space.
  • Session Attendance: Beacons assigned to attendees or session rooms enable precise tracking of attendance and engagement levels across various workshops and seminars.
  • Crowd Density Management: The system helps manage crowd flow by providing real-time insights into high-traffic areas, ensuring better crowd control and enhanced attendee experience.

Gateway and Beacon Placement

  • BLE Gateways: Gateways should be positioned at main entry points, exits, session rooms, and along high-traffic pathways to ensure optimal signal coverage across the venue. The power flexibility (PoE, battery, solar) allows gateways to be deployed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • BLE Beacons: Beacons can be worn by attendees or installed in strategic locations such as session rooms, exhibition booths, or common areas to provide accurate movement tracking.

Case Studies

  • Austin, USA: A large music and tech festival in Austin used GAO RFID’s BLE system to monitor the movement of attendees across multiple stages and panel sessions. The real-time data helped optimize session seating and reduce congestion in high-traffic areas.
  • San Francisco, USA: A tech conference in San Francisco integrated our BLE-based tracking system to measure attendee engagement in keynote sessions and networking areas, resulting in improved session planning and attendee satisfaction.
  • Montreal, Canada: A major art festival in Montreal implemented GAO’s BLE system to track visitor movements between galleries, enhancing crowd management and optimizing the visitor experience across the multi-day event.
