The information industry is a broad sector that encompasses businesses and organizations that create, manage, store, process, and disseminate information. This industry includes a wide range of activities, from publishing and broadcasting to library services, information technology, and telecommunications. GAO’s BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) beacons and gateways have several use cases in the information industry. Here are some ways GAO’s BLE in which they can be used in the IT industry:-
- Asset Tracking - BLE beacons can be used to track the location of books, equipment, and other assets in libraries and other information centers. By attaching BLE beacon to each asset, staff can monitor its location in real-time and optimize its use.
- Access Control- BLE beacons can be used to monitor access to restricted areas of a library or information center. By placing beacons at the entrance to these areas, staff can monitor who enters and leaves from premises and receive alerts if someone without authorization attempts to enter.
- People Tracking - BLE beacons and gateway can be used in the settings, such as museums or theme parks, to track the location of visitors and provide personalized information or experiences based on their interests or location within the venue.
- Environment Monitoring - BLE gateways can be used in libraries or information centers to collect data on humidity, temperature, and other environmental factors from multiple beacons with sensors and transmit it to a central local server or cloud server. This allows for real-time monitoring and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Parking Control –BLE gateways can be placed at parking gates to control and verify the entering or exiting of vehicles that contain BLE beacons on them from the parking spaces.
- Indoor Navigation - By placing beacons at key locations throughout the large building such as libraries, museums, and convention centers, visitors can use their smartphones to navigate to specific exhibits or areas of interest.
