TRANSPORTATION AND WAREHOUSING INDUSTRY
The Mining, Quarrying, and Oil and Gas Extraction industry includes establishments involved in the exploration, extraction, and processing of natural resources such as coal, oil, gas, minerals, and metals. There are several uses for GAO’s Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons and gateways in the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction sectors:
- Asset tracking: GAO BLE beacons can be placed on heavy machinery, vehicles, or other equipment like bulldozers, drills, pumps, excavators, elevators, rotary hammers, and crushers and their movement can be tracked using our gateways installed at various points in the operation.
- People Tracking: GAO’s BLE beacons can be attached to workers' badges or helmets to track their location and monitor their movements within the mine or quarry. If a worker enters a restricted area or is in danger of colliding with heavy machinery or equipment like wheel loaders, conveyors, cranes, forklifts, and haul trucks, an alert can be sent to supervisors or safety personnel, who can take appropriate action.
- Parking Management: Our BLE beacons can be attached to the parking spots and a gateway can be placed at the entrance of the parking lot. When a vehicle like dump trucks, haul trucks, water trucks, fuel trucks, crane trucks, and service trucks enter the lot, the gateway can detect the beacon and determine which spots are empty.
- Access control: Our BLE beacons can be used to control access to restricted areas such as mines, drilling sites, or storage facilities. When a worker with a beacon approaches the gate, the gateway can detect the beacon and allow or deny access based on permissions assigned to the beacon.
- Environmental Monitoring: GAO’sBLE beacons and gateways can also be used to monitor and track environmental factors in these industries, such as air quality, temperature, and humidity. This can help companies ensure that the working environment is safe and healthy for their workers.
- Pipeline and well monitoring: In the oil and gas extraction industry, our BLE beacons & gateways can also be used to monitor pipeline integrity and track the movement of oil and gas. GAO BLE beacons can be placed on pipelines to detect leaks, and gateways can be installed to transmit the data to a central server. This can help companies detect leaks quickly and reduce environmental damage.
- Navigation: By installing GAO’s BLE beacons in key locations throughout the site, such as equipment, vehicles, and important landmarks, workers can use their smartphones to navigate the site with ease. By providing workers with real-time location information, including hazard zones and restricted areas, workers can navigate the site more safely and avoid potential accidents.
