Using GAO RFID Systems in the Container, Hardware & Wire Manufacturing Industry
This dynamic industry is responsible for a variety of corrugated products, including cardboard boxes and plastic packaging. Related products include assembly tools and wiring, which are often sold together to a variety of other sectors. At GAO RFID, we understand that manufacturers must have the flexibility to face their competitors head on.
We are proud to serve some of the world’s biggest manufacturers, no matter how complex their challenges may be. Read on to see how we’ve addressed some of our clients’ concerns. Our answers may inspire you to implement GAO RFID into your operations.
Question: Our plant generates thousands of products per day for markets worldwide. But keeping track of our final goods (and related inventory) has become a challenge. Can GAO RFID help?
Yes, GAO RFID can help! Often times, many manufacturers don’t even know where to begin when it comes to streamlining. That’s why GAO RFID has created a solution that removes all the guesswork. Our RFID Work in Progress (WIP) Tracking System is one of the most comprehensive ways to implement RFID for lean manufacturing practices. Improve production time and eliminate excess inventory with our real-time asset tracking software. Here’s how it works:
- GAO Tags are attached to a variety of items, including shipping container walls and doors, material bins and mobile components
- GAO Readers are then attached to important stations throughout the warehouse
- Readers send signals to the system’s powerful software as tagged items move across the assembly line
- This software then compiles a comprehensive breakdown of where those items are
- Use that data to analyze your plant’s efficiency levels, and adjust your operations accordingly
The best part about our WIP System: It is fully customizable. This RFID framework can be expanded or reduced, depending on your operational size. Our team is with you every step of the way, so your company can utilize this system to its maximum benefit.
Question: We offer free employee parking at our facility. But we often have non-employees taking advantage of our lots. How can we eliminate trespassers?
GAO RFID’s Parking Control System
is the most effective way to manage security, thus eliminating trespassing. Using RFID technology, RFID Readers are installed at your parking lot’s entrance gate. Then RFID Vehicle Tags
are assigned to all employees who require lot access. When their tags are within reading distance of the entrance gate, access will be granted. Every time the lot is entered and exited, the event will be recorded in the database showing who accessed the lot. RFID technology also eliminates the need for a parking attendant as all processes are automated 24/7. In addition, the access to your delivery docks can also be controlled by this system, so that you can track and grant accessing to only authorized freight trucks in your fleet.
Question: Our company is in an era of downsizing. We’d like to eliminate certain positions that are along various stages of the assembly line because we believe certain jobs can be automated. Can GAO RFID help us implement automated line control functions?
It is certainly possible. GAO’s Asset Tracking System
is designed for exactly this purpose. We originally built this system for the control of snow rafts at mountain resorts. But we quickly realized it can be expertly used in the manufacturing industry as well. Essentially, GAO Tags are placed on various goods as they move along the assembly line. When these tagged goods reach a strategically-placed RFID Reader, they will send a signal. This signal will offer the “go-ahead” to ready the next production stage for activity. Ultimately, you have reduced the need for a paid employee who would have otherwise dispatched this “go-ahead” signal.
Integrating our RFID Systems with your Existing Management Software
GAO RFID’s Systems can be deployed as a standalone solution or can be integrated with other software solutions, according to your needs.
At the core of our solution is GAO RFID’s AUTO-ID Engine which incorporates middleware and essential RFID functions that perform RFID data collection and information processing. Our AUTO-ID Engine seamlessly integrates with a wide variety of manufacturing management systems so that you can access the data it collects directly via the system or systems you currently have in place.
Our team of seasoned professionals will smoothly integrate the appropriate GAO RFID Solution with your IT architecture. The result is an RFID solution that is seamlessly unified with your manufacturing management system.
